Musician Information
The Kentucky Rye Band has been a mainstay in the Denver country music scene for nearly ten years. Although individual band members change, the commitment to enjoyable country music entertainment is constant. Lead singer, Herb Martin, is the heart of Kentucky Rye. His voice is described as having the sensitivity of Ricky Van Shelton, the flexibility of Marty Robbins, and the power of Elvis. He encompasses the full range of country classics to today's top hits. For Kentucky Rye, Herb acts as a core from which musical stylings have been built offering surprising variety and versatility, particularly in today's fast paced, dynamic country music scene. This gives the band the ability to adjust the show and the material to audiences "on the spot". Kentucky Rye brings to you a versatile, professional show; an act you can bring back again and again; pure country music the way you like it; top hits plus old favorites, and a great show for all ages.

Influences: "Country music has been a part of my life since I was years old, my grandfather and my older brother played the guitar, fiddle & banjo in addition to teaching me the nature of the music. I remember sitting by a stone marble rock in the court house square that had all of the confederate soldiers' names engraved on it that fought and died in the war at Carthage, TN. I had spent numerous occasions just sitting on this rock and listening to my grandfather and brother play for the local dances, get-togethers, and other local events. At one point in time I just started singing along with them, my voice seemed to stick with people and I realized that it also made me happy, that's when I decided that singing and playing music is what I was going to do for a long time, not because I felt obligated to, but because I wanted nothing else. It's been a long a time since I've set on that rock back in Tennessee but over the years I've continued to play and sing and it continues to make me feel the same way it did all those years ago, happy. I guess it's something that once you start doing you just can't quit, it's always in you no matter where you go or what you do. To be honest, at night when I can't sleep, it still helps to grab the guitar and just start playing. It's not an easy life but it is most certainly a good one..."
-Herb Martin
Members of Band: Herb Martin (Lead Singer/Guitar) & Frank Fyock (Fiddle/Guitar/Bass): HERB MARTIN: Originally from Nashville, TN, Herb has a wide range of musical tastes providing a well balanced stage show guaranteed to entertain all listeners. He began his singing career at the age of seven entertaining his friends at school gatherings. He has come a long way since those days, having performed at various clubs in the Denver-Boulder area as well as surrounding areas including Greeley, Granby, and Conifer. He has participated in several musical competitions sponsored by associations including the Colorado Country Music Association. Herb has previously recorded singles at the Wild Traks Studio of Nashville. While these songs were remakes, one of them previously released by Marty Robbins called, "Don't Worry 'Bout Me", and another previously released by Don Williams called, "Sensuous Woman", both of these singles received air play in the Nashville greater area in addition to select areas in Texas. They were both favorably acclaimed by listeners, station managers, and DJ's alike. Herb's diverse vocal ability includes songs from the fifties and sixties, traditional and modern country and others popularized by Elvis and many more. Herb has a certain magnetism on the stage which allows him to hold the attention of his audience and a professional attitude which carries over into all aspects of his career. FRANK FYOCK: As a professional musician, Frank has traveled the world for over years, performing in Russia, Scotland, and all over the United States. Working in numerous groups with Herb Martin, Frank's fiddle playing has become an important part of his unique sound. As a conductor, composer, arranger, performer, and educator, Frank is comfortable in many mediums, but is most at home in classic country. In addition to fiddle, Frank helps on guitar and bass as well.
