and SILAS, a five piece rock band based in Eugene, Oregon can't be confined to a box. Simply put, they can TWANG, ROCK, STRUM, GROOVE and JAM like no other. Some say their foot stompin' tunes are Alternative Country. They're in a genre with Robert Earl Keen and Whiskeytown. Some insist that the complex rhythms of SILAS are steeped in jazz-influenced rock like Phish and Steely Dan. Others call the SILAS style Americana roots rock, citing such characteristic sounds as Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle. Whatever you wanna call 'em, it's up to you. But once you catch SILAS live, you just can't let 'em go! SILAS achieves their rootsy sound by tending to the influences the band members soaked up over the years. These strong inspirations come from rock legends such as The Band and The Allman Brothers. SILAS' original music sprouted from a collective love of th century American music. The band's growing disdain for the current state of the union fed the down home passions of SILAS' uniquely American sound.
