Starting out as "South " guitarist J.R. Sumner, drummer Lou Avlia, and bassist Chuck Ozment were fed up with auditions and rehearsals with people who just didn’t fit their style and vision. Johnson City's punishing scene is difficult enough for young and uncompromising bands as it is; the longtime trio of friends were at their wits’ end.
Then they discovered vocalist Mike Jones , and everything changed.Together they formed a new name for the band with him: South Of Sanity.
Shortly after the addition of Michigan rocker: Chris Galloway really brought the band closer together in live performance. We now hae a solid band! So for those of you that have seen these masterminds at work it is obvious that they truely are........South of Sanity!!!
Mike Jones: This man is truely a "Freak on a leash" when it comes to vocals! From Growls to Roars he is "Here to stay"! So even with his "Twisted Transistor" he will unleash his "Voodoo" makeing the crowd beg for more!
Lou Avila: Are you ready for the thunder?? Lightning is sure to follow! From the thunerous beats of the bass drum to the ear splitting crash of the cymbals you might mistake it as the footsteps of "Godzilla"! We call it rock! This drummer is " Guilty.......In the first degree" of being the a true powerhouse on the drums.
Chuck Ozment: If the walls blocks down dont shake then it isnt rock! In the th grade he was "Hot for Teacher" so he set out to be a star! While "Running with the Devil" he found the woman of his dreams. So just when you think it is an earthquake you better think twice because "It's about time" to start the show!
Chris Galloway: This Michgan rocker looking for the land of the pines steps forward when it is time to rock. From strings to strings or even instruments from the moon and back can be created when he is plugged in!So sit back and enjoy becuase he is wanted "Dead or Alive" and ready to "Hit That" rock n roll style.
J.R. : Toting an arsenal of guitars often compared to Ted Nugets rifle collection. This guy finds his second home ripping up the fretboard. So if he isn't harpooning the gret "Moby Dick" then he could possibaly be " Walking this way" on the "Stairway to Heaven"! Either way he is sure to impress!
