| Rush Hour is a top-rated wedding, corporate, and party variety band for all of the DC Metro area. We are a runaway favorite of entertainment companies and repeat clients who know that we will fill your dance floor and provide a memorable musical experience. We are a 4-5 piece variety cover band led by a male/female vocalist team. We specialize in the dance music of the 1960s through today, including Motown, Soul, R&B, classic rock, disco, alternative, fun '80s, and today's hits. We can also play the softer jazz and pop standards for dining or early dancing portions of your event. Lynn Keen, our female vocalist, is a major vocal talent, is considered one of the most soulful 'blue-eyed divas' in Northern Virginia, and has released a variety of CDs on her own label. We have played at corporate or organizational receptions, top hotels, country clubs, restaurant clubs, and other venues around the area. An added bonus is the ability to work with your event destination to coordinate all the event needs to ensure timing and help your event flow. Mike Thomas is an immensely talented singer-songwriter. He is an evolving musical entity: the music is fresh and continually adds new dimensions. We like to call Mike’s sound new old-school organic soul. From a lifetime of exposure to divergent styles of music, and a bringing together of elements from jazz, country, folk, rhythm & blues and rock, the musically erudite sound of Mike Thomas is textured, multi-layered, and introspective. Over the past two years, Mike has been busy writing and playing all over New York, Michigan and Toronto. As well as playing solo and Mike Thomas Band shows, Mike is the vocalist/ guitarist for the harmony-rich, groove-laden Roundbale Conspiracy. Mike was the lead guitarist/background vocalist/bassist for the high energy horn rock band PBM, and was the bassist/ vocalist for the exuberant rock-trio juggernaut, Head. He also fronted his own band Sam Jones & the Jones Family. Mike is a powerful, soulful artist and performer. His extensive creative input on Roundbale’s CD, As Fresh As It Gets, honed his song writing style (reminiscent of Jeff Buckley but with unmistakable McCartney and Garcia influence). He has drawn raves and standing ovations from audiences across the U.S. and Canada. |

Featuring strong lead vocals with tight harmonies backed by an incredibly funky rhythm section, members of " REMIX have played on national tours and recordings with many well-known (and some not-so-well-known) artists and continue to do so today. Two of our vocalists also played lead roles in the national touring companies of several Broadway musicals.
No matter the size of your event, we can provide the appropriate musical accompaniment -- from a guitar/vocalist duo to our standard six-piece "Club Crew" to a big band with brass and saxes to our "Premier" ensemble with vocalists, Latin percussionist, brass and full string section. | Take a large chunk of rock, mix in a little funk, add some pop and techno, and a hint of the 's, and what's the end result? - Boston's multi-styled and distinctive Blue Moon Harem. They've created an interesting sound, covering different genres of rock, that has become their trademark.Blue Moon Harem was formed by singer/songwriter Bix and guitarist Demetri in . After deciding to take a different approach to recording, they procured the services of well respected producer Jim Siegel; as well as, the talents of drummer Lex Lianos, and bass player Paul Bryan (Paula Cole, Katie Curtis, Amiee Mann, and Nora Jones). The outcome is the song self titled Blue Moon Harem. . This powerful CD is diverse and fun, basic yet complex, and is appealing to, and has received a very positive response from, a wide ranging audience.
The CD kicks off with the pulsing rock tune Addiction which has received airplay on WAAF's local music show in Boston, on which the band has also performed live. Addiction, along with Ride and Dog's Life, has been praised in reviews leading to spots as a featured "song of the day" on Garageband 's home page. The band is also a staple on Evolvingartist 's radio show and on their hour streaming video program. The songs Addiction, I am a Wall, Illness, and Dog's Life are featured in the independent movie Under Surveillance from New York based Fourth Horizon Cinema. Addiction and other songs are also featured in the film Hurt from Pittsburg, PA and Morgantown, WV based Sorry Dog Productions. Look for the main character wearing a Blue Moon Harem t-shirt!! Most, if not all, of the CD will be featured in the movie Double A Highway from the same company. Look for us to be in the film as well.
Blue Moon Harems current lineup is: Bix on vocals; Demetri on guitars; Brian McDougal on drums and percussion; looking for a new bass player. BMH is supporting their release with live performances throughout the New England and New York areas. |
