But the sounds that come from Johnnys bandstand when he swings out are anything but stuck in time. Johnny and his top-flight New Orleans cats have a progressive sound that is still being shaped. Ergo, this is not a revival band, but a working group of serious musicians who know theyve started something much bigger than its component parts. Whereas many bigger names have already made it, the hunger of the Swinging Demons means they follow their fearless leader wherever he takes them from his own bag of favorites to big-band standards to personally penned classics, Johnny is still making his sound and proving his artistic vision nightly. Anyone who saw Duke in the 20s (Washingtonians) or Goodmans incarnations in the 30s knows that special time when a genuine sound is about to explode. You can feel Angel and his Demons undeniably dynamic freshness in every song; they cause feet to tap and heads to turn wherever they play. New York supplies the roots for Johnny, but New Orleans gives his sound a caramelized backbeat sweeter than local molasses. Johnny doesnt just cover songs he embraces them, making each melody his own. The way Johnny sings truly redefines the music from this by-gone era as he and his mates expand the ever-growing definition of swing. With the way Johnny makes his audience part of the show - via his big band dance lessons and Sinatra-esque schmoozing patrons always clamor for more. Just Johnnys fashion sense and pompadour make you take notice, but it is his command of the entire offering that keeps you glued to his every note. Hey, this guy who used to do hair for Bobby DeNiro and other top stars must do pretty good if he can ditch his day job to become one of the best bandleaders/singers that the Big Easy has ever known...and he does... Recently nominated on New Country Star “Female Vocalist for November 2006”, Rebecca Lindsey is becoming one of the most recognizable figures in Country music. A trained singer/ songwriter since she was 10, Rebecca has continually set the bar for excellence in performance and song writing.
Rebecca’s upcoming CD “Headlights on the Highway” is scheduled for release by the first of the year. Rebecca is also an active member of BMI and the American Federation of Musicians.
“I Will Be”, which is on her up-coming album, was chosen by her endorser, The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, to be the song for their organization. “While You Were Sleeping” is endorsed by UHaul as well. Since finishing her debut album Rebecca has recently had positive meetings with RCA as well as Broken Bow and Warner Brothers Nashville Record Label.
Rebecca was also recently interviewed by Country Home and Music 75. On Music 75 she was nominated as "Artist of the Week". Rebecca was previously recognized and interviewed as an "Up and Coming Artist" in HEET Country magazine in May 2002 and was also nominated and featured around that time again in Burningcountry's "The People's Choice Show Case" 2003. Rebecca was also a featured artist in Feb. 2005 in Countrystarsonline who have featured other artists such as Martina McBride, Keith Urban and Trick Pony, to name a few.
Rebecca Lindsey released two singles, "My Man" and "You Got Me", both of which charted over seas. Rebecca's song that she wrote and sang, "My Man", is currently being played on France's Music Box Radio 92.8 FM and is also playing worldwide on web radio.
Rebecca's latest release, "On the Fourth of July" was engineered by EMI's Chris Latham and has been getting radio play in Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, California as well as Texas and on Lexington Broadcasting.com. "On the Fourth of July" is also presently being played in over a thousand radio stations world-wide. Rebecca was most recently interviewed by Lexington Broadcasting.com with Steve Martin as well as WBTN AM with Rich Ryder, Y107 FM with Brian Austin, NIXA on XRadio and she was featured in The TIKI Lounge magazine and graced the cover of The TIKI Lounge in June 2006.
In October of this year Rebecca donated her time as a motivational guest speaker in New York City for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Virgin Records, the media, NCADV as well as ‘The Red Jump Suit Apparatus band’ were all guests at the event, to name a few. Rebecca was the only Country singer there representing country music as well as the Tampa Bay area. On Nov. 11 Rebecca also donated her time to perform at the ‘Eternal Monument Light Ceremony’ for the Veteran's Day Parade representing UHaul in New York as well. The Mayor of New York, several dignitaries and a crowd of 20,000 participants and 750,000 spectators were there along with the media. Afterward Rebecca performed various songs from her album in the Parade on the First Lincoln Mortgage float. Rebecca will again be donating her time to charity to give a benefit concert for the local ‘CASA’ domestic abuse shelter to help raise awareness as well as funds for the shelter on Jan. 27. Bay News 9 will be promoting the event a month prior. Rebecca will also be on HBO’s “From Broadway to Baghdad” giving tribute to the troops in Iraq as well as performing four of her songs from her debut album on the video. The HBO tribute video can be viewed at Bay News 9’s ‘Videos on Demand’.
Rebecca has been working with Charlie Craig as her Producer, whose credits include songs recorded by Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Johnny Cash, Aaron Tippin and George Strait, plus many others. Charlie has also won a Grammy nomination and was nominated for Song of the Year for "She's Single Again", sang by Reba McEntire and was co-written with Peter McCann in 1986. Charlie also wrote "Wanted" in 1991, co-written with Alan Jackson, who recorded the song as well. Charlie recently wrote a beautiful ballad which Rebecca put on her album called, “Everything but Lying“. Rebecca's latest release, "On the Fourth of July" was also produced by Charlie Craig.
