The Williams Brothers Band - Grand Junction, Colorado
THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS were molded in the streets of Oakland, California during the seventies listening to their parents vast blues & country vinyl collection, the funk that flowed out of boomboxes (pre hip-hop), and the psychedelic folk rock that blossomed in the East Bay Area during that time. Inevitably the brothers followed their families lineage of song and dance men(Gr,Gr,Gr,Great Grandpa penned the traditional favorite, "Sweet Betsy from Pike" in mid 1800's. While Great Grandpa had a country swing big band that toured the US extensively in the 1920s-1930s), The brothers started putting together their first groups in the mid 1980's. (Uncle John's Band, 922, The Homegrown Boogie Band) A WILLIAMS BROTHERS show features intertwining songs and extended improv induced jams fueled by any and all audatory stimulus to have ever sounded, there is no genre or barrier that is considered unusuable, all previous artists are an influence in one way or another, it is true old school original jam music. JAMES WILLIAMS vocals are inspired by the grit of JIM MORRISON, the soul of OTIS REDDING and the personal experience of JERRY GARCIA. PHILLIP WILLIAMS plays lead guitar with a deep blues style that is noticeably influenced by JIMI HENDRIX, DUANE ALLMAN, ALVIN LEE and at times with a fluidity that is eerily reminescent of JERRY GARCIA. Whether solo, together as "ACOUSTIC WB" or with their back-up group THE HOMEGROWN BOOGIE BAND, WILLIAMS BROTHERS shows are always full of surprises & special guests. it is never the same show twice. THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS BAND hit #1 on the mp3.com Blues charts 12/19/06 with JOHNNY THE SQUIRREL, coupled by DEEP ELEM BLUES which was simultamiously perched at #7 (eventually reaching as high as #4). TWBB has released a total of four albums (Three live recordings & one studio release), and have countless live bootleg recordings circulating throughout the tape trading ranks. TWBB is currently in the studio working on their next studio album which will be released Spring '07.

Here are what two recent clients had to say about hiring Narrow Gauge:

Dear Jim,

We were very happy with your services. You took care of all the set up and tear down as well as any issues during the night. This goes for the cocktail/dinner music as well. All of your musicians were really friendly and flexible ( i.e. having 6 girls up on stage to sing) and your fun attitude was much appreciated. You also did an excellent job keeping the wedding on track (i.e. getting the dancing started) without pressuring us to follow a time line exactly. Most importantly though, the music was great and there was never an empty dance floor....or even a sparsely populated one! It was by far one of the best parties I've been to, and to have it be our wedding too was more that we could have asked for."

Thanks,

Kyler and Emily Brown

Dear Gigleader,

Thank you Gigleader for leading us to such a great band for our wedding! Narrow Gauge was the perfect fit. We had looked all over and could not find a band that we thought would fit our guests. We love country music and so did many of our guests, but there were also people who liked a variety of different genres of music. Narrow Gauge played to the crowd and kept the dance floor packed all night. We had so much fun that we even hired them for an extra set! Narrow Gauge was easy to work with! Jim was so helpful in helping us plan our reception. We had all the details worked out weeks before the reception, so I could try to relax! He even MC'd the event for us. They let several of our guest sing on stage with them, and even let Steve, my new husband play bass on one song. He doesn't even know how to play bass, but somehow it sounded great. During their breaks they had DJ music pumping through the dance floor, so even when they weren't playing, our guests kept dancing! It was truly a night to remember. Thank you Narrow Gauge for your professionalism and talent. You were so phenomenal! We couldn't recommend you more highly!

My Name is Shampen, pronounced the same as the sparkling wine. I am a Keyboardist/Vocalist, The proverbial, "One Man Band" My music is so full, that I've been known to intimidate bands. :-) I don't use Karaoke tracks or Music Minus One media, all of my sequences are programmed by me in my 'State Of The Art' studio, MidiCity Sound. I have a repertoire of over 1,000 songs that range from the 1920's to the 2000's. From BGM to a full dance party, I am completely self contained, with PA system and all of the equipment needed to do the job. I also partner up with other professional musicians from time to time, so I can offer any number of musicians from myself, to a complete corporate 15 piece Motown review show band. To see a list of the songs I do, please Google my web page entitled: Shampen.com/Lizard.html "The Ultimate Lounge Lizard" Please know that I am a music professional, and that you can depend on me, to be on time, well prepared and provide your guests with quality music and a real good time.
