CAMELIA LATIN JAZZ duo/trio/quartet. - Allston, Massachusetts
Camelia Latin Jazz is a duo, trio or quartet, depending on the available space or budget.
Its founder, Roderick Camelia, a native from Curaçao, Dutch Antilles, is well versed in all Latin and Caribbean styles (merengue, salsa, bossa nova, samba, calypso etc.) as well as an accomplished guitar player. He takes great pride in being a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. All the members are professional musicians who work full time in the music industry.
Camelia Latin Jazz provides instrumental Latin and Caribbean rhythms with jazz improvisation, also known as latin jazz, for all types of private occasions: weddings, award ceremonies, conventions, corporate events, fund raisers, political events, private parties, sales meetings, etc. The group does also public performances: restaurants, barrooms, lounges, festivals, etc..
It has performed mostly at private functions, held at, for example: The Museum of Fine Arts, The Westin Hotel (The Medal of Hope Award for mayor Thomas M. Menino), The Country Club, Tremont Hotel, The Omni Parker House; and also educational institutions, like: Harvard University, Boston College, Suffolk University, Tufts University, etc.
The group can adjust to any atmosphere by playing as softly or as lively as needed. It can also increase its size to a quintet or sextet, by including more percussions.
The group may decide to use only hand percussions instead of a drum set when space is limited.
