" PHIL BRUMLEY BAND: His soulful, honest pop country defies categorization, really..." - Ayo host of The Edge of Night on KDGE-FM ( . FM)
Born in early , guitarist Phil Brumley partnered with drummer Tahle Kirk to work on a recording project and write songs. Together, they began weekly writing sessions, trading notes and inspiration. Early gigs included coffee shops and bookstores, where sets consisted of covers by U , Dave Matthews Band and Martin Sexton as well as a handful of originals. Phil and Tahle continued to form a concept for PBB while looking to add more musicians.
A year later, Brian James (keyboard) was recruited after answering an online post. For more than a year PBB performed at local venues developing a fan base and journaling their experiences. A local recording engineer took notice of PBB's sound and offered to do their first EP, "Listen" for minimal cost. After "Listen" was released in early the group took on more concert dates while still looking for other musicians. After meeting Jason Fargason (violin) at a party in Dallas, Texas, the band welcomed his talents to the PBB stage in July ’. The added dynamic of an electric violin meant that PBB’s sound was changing. Almost a year later Mike Hankins (bass) became a permanent fixture in the group giving a completely different edge to their sound. “We just began to re-invent ourselves”, Brumley said. “Our beginnings were modest but we were ready for more, much more”.
In August of PBB entered the studio with new producer Martin Baird to begin work on their sophomore album. They are currently working towards completion of that project to be released in .
