VEER was formed in late by Crispin and guitarist Eric Schraeder. Originally from Port Alberni, BC, the two longtime friends surprisingly found themselves living as neighbors: "we knew each other previously because we had played in bands together. We were both living out of our rehearsal studios in downtown East Vancouver," recalls Crispin.
At the time Crispin was the front man of Everything After, where creative differences led to his departure. While the remaining members of Everything After regrouped under the name Hedley, Crispin was gaining attention as a songwriter with credits on Motley Crue's drummer Tommy Lee's solo CD Tommyland: The Ride. Eric, who had recently relocated back to Vancouver after a stint in Los Angeles with Foot Echo (Hollywood Records), was working on projects of his own. Next drummer Beni was brought into the fold who has established himself as one of the top drummers in the city. Finally Roots, and Fid who play bass and guitars respectively came on board to round out VEER's lineup.
Much of VEER's music is a reflection of their life experiences. "Wish You Well" and "Sold Me Out" clearly demonstrate a positive message while showcasing their skills as songwriters. "Wish You Well" is about the area we're living in," explains Crispin, "looking at people who can't turn their lives around. No matter how rough a time we're facing, our life isn't that bad. The only thing we can do for them is to wish them well."
VEER recently finished their debut full length CD with producer Dean Maher (Trapt, Atreyu, Rise Against) at Green House Studios in Vancouver, BC.

This is a young band, interested in youth gatherings but has been highly successful with all age groups. Extremely high energy, yet able to transition into very intimate worship. Familiar with top 40 Christian rock songs, but also has extensive worship background. All band members are part of the prestigious Commercial Music Department at South Plains College in Texas. Highly skilled musicians and singers with professional attitudes. Very serious about the work God has called them to. Will travel with or without sound equipment and are trained to run it. Thank you Gigleader for leading us to such a great band for our wedding! Narrow Gauge was the perfect fit. We had looked all over and could not find a band that we thought would fit our guests. We love country music and so did many of our guests, but there were also people who liked a variety of different genres of music. Narrow Gauge played to the crowd and kept the dance floor packed all night. We had so much fun that we even hired them for an extra set! Narrow Gauge was easy to work with! Jim was so helpful in helping us plan our reception. We had all the details worked out weeks before the reception, so I could try to relax! He even MC'd the event for us. They let several of our guest sing on stage with them, and even let Steve, my new husband play bass on one song. He doesn't even know how to play bass, but somehow it sounded great. During their breaks they had DJ music pumping through the dance floor, so even when they weren't playing, our guests kept dancing! It was truly a night to remember. Thank you Narrow Gauge for your professionalism and talent. You were so phenomenal! We couldn't recommend you more highly!
We are cool kids, but not really. We actually don't have a life, so we hang out and play. We would really like to make it big, and I gress every band has to start somewhere, right?
