Who would’ve thought a bunch of wild teenagers like Monterius Easley (Yung Army); Michael Stephens (Skit-So AKA Anasity Boi); and Anthony James (Lutha AKA Dope Boi Fresh) Would Grow up to be the next big thing? They formed Double Up Mafia in . Yung Army (Born September , ); Skit-So (Born October , ) and Lutha (Born April , ) they all grew up as cousins an would visit each other basically every single day just playing around on the keyboards and microphone.
Double Up Mafia grew up listening to such idols as Michael Jackson, B.I.G, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Tupac just to name a few. They started rapping at the age of . They later learned how to write their own songs and becoming solo independent artist and in forming a rap group called Double Up Mafia
While after learning how to sing and rap they fuse the concept of singing with rapping and began to write, produce, and recording music!
In the spring of The Group Released Their st LP, “Da New Era” which included tracks with Kevin, Mr. Wood, and Hood Starz. They Liked the Success of the Album and decided to keep the era going. Doubted by many “Double Up Mafia” was out to prove them wrong. While focusing on the nd LP the group parted ways and now as a group and independently they have been making hits.. Since then Double Up Mafia has been Writing Music, and Yung Army has been Producing, Writing and Recording Music.
In Double Up Mafia Began Recording Their Sorphmore Album... In December of They teamed up with Atlanta premier Label “Military Mindz Muzik Group” for the help of their debut album the label in has released their debut single “Check Me Out” a ballad written by “Yung Army”. The single has impressed many across the state regions and has heavy rotation in clubs, parties, radios and more! Their highly enticipated Mixtape Is currently being pre-pared for release soon entitled “Ready War VOL ” on, online stores everywhere (I-Tunes, Napster, Rhapsody, emusic, amazon mp , Best Buy digital store, Tower Records, AT&T Wireless, Circuit City Digital Music Store, Urge(MTV) and many more stores.) | At age , Tracy Hamlin introduced her soulful voice before a curious crowd at the La Fountain Blue in Baltimore, Md. From that day on, Tracy knew she had a special gift, and her life changed forever. Little did she know then that she would travel the world as a lead singer, visiting places she had only dreamed of as a little girl: from Japan to South Africa.
Now, Hamlin, the longtime lead singer for the award-winning group, "Pieces of a Dream", releases her first solo album, "Seasons" (DMH Records, LLC). The CD will feature performances by Najee on flute in "Sundown", James Lloyd (from Pieces of a Dream) on piano in the title cut and Paul Reed Smith (world renowned guitar maker) in "Ain't No Sunshine".
For Hamlin, "Seasons" is a wonderful representation of her rich, warm sound that has attracted both R&B and jazz aficionados. In addition to her years with "Pieces of a Dream", she has shared the stage with such music greats as Al Jarreau, Boney James, Gerald Albright, Carlos Santana, India Arie and Joe Sample. Add to that her role as background singer for Howard Hewett, Miki Howard and Maysa. In recent years, Hamlin has distinguished herself as the lead singer on two highly successfully "Pieces of a Dream" CDs - "No Assembly Required" and "Love's Silhouette".
Hamlin's career is built on a solid musical education foundation, which has played an integral part in her success. She developed her classical music skills learning how to sing in three languages - French, German and Italian - at the Baltimore School of the Arts. She topped off her musical training by studying at the prestigious Peabody Preparatory School of Music.
