| Take a large chunk of rock, mix in a little funk, add some pop and techno, and a hint of the 's, and what's the end result? - Boston's multi-styled and distinctive Blue Moon Harem. They've created an interesting sound, covering different genres of rock, that has become their trademark.Blue Moon Harem was formed by singer/songwriter Bix and guitarist Demetri in . After deciding to take a different approach to recording, they procured the services of well respected producer Jim Siegel; as well as, the talents of drummer Lex Lianos, and bass player Paul Bryan (Paula Cole, Katie Curtis, Amiee Mann, and Nora Jones). The outcome is the song self titled Blue Moon Harem. . This powerful CD is diverse and fun, basic yet complex, and is appealing to, and has received a very positive response from, a wide ranging audience.
The CD kicks off with the pulsing rock tune Addiction which has received airplay on WAAF's local music show in Boston, on which the band has also performed live. Addiction, along with Ride and Dog's Life, has been praised in reviews leading to spots as a featured "song of the day" on Garageband 's home page. The band is also a staple on Evolvingartist 's radio show and on their hour streaming video program. The songs Addiction, I am a Wall, Illness, and Dog's Life are featured in the independent movie Under Surveillance from New York based Fourth Horizon Cinema. Addiction and other songs are also featured in the film Hurt from Pittsburg, PA and Morgantown, WV based Sorry Dog Productions. Look for the main character wearing a Blue Moon Harem t-shirt!! Most, if not all, of the CD will be featured in the movie Double A Highway from the same company. Look for us to be in the film as well.
Blue Moon Harems current lineup is: Bix on vocals; Demetri on guitars; Brian McDougal on drums and percussion; looking for a new bass player. BMH is supporting their release with live performances throughout the New England and New York areas. |

| Pictures of Winter is a -piece metalcore band from Connecticut. Pictures Of Winter is another incarnation of the band Chasing Eternity, which called it quits in March of . With the rise of this new incarnation come a new sound and a new goal: To combine the mesmerizing melody popularized by bands like Hopesfall and Poison the Well with the unforgiving ferocity that has characterized metalcore heavyweights like The Acacia Strain and August Burns Red. While this is the objective of many bands in the metal/hardcore scene today, Pictures Of Winter hopes to do so in their own way so as to forge a one-of-a-kind sound. Equipped with aspirations to create this new sound, and lyrics inspired by themes that transcend boundaries of time and place, Pictures Of Winter is on a mission to make a positive and lasting impact in today's music scene.
The band went through member changes in early April of with Jeff Pereira, Brian Kapinos and Jens Peterson deciding to part ways with the band. The two remaining members did not give up and pursued new members. Shortly after the departure of the two guitarists and bassist, Mike and Chris found Mike Ciervo, a great, dedicated guitarist. Shortly after Mike Ciervo joined Pictures of Winter, his brother Julian, currently in the jazz field, tried out for Pictures of Winter on bass, and showed amazing talent. After going through short stints with two lead guitarists, POW found Bill Forbes (a long time student of Oli Herbert of All That Remains) through one of the past members. Bill made their jaws drop with his awesome sweeping patterns and great lead guitar ability.
Although the band now has different members, it will most definitely hang on to the same sound, but attempt to make it more powerful, more open to other types of music and show the true potential of the band. |
